Pearls
We went to a pearl mall yesterday with our group. Sherry, our guide, told us that it was the best place to buy high-quality pearls and that our group would receive a 30% discount. We purchased a lovely pink pearl necklace and earrings to give Zoe for her 16th birthday. But then the saleslady showed us a gorgeous gold pearl necklace and earrings. The earrings had the Chinese character, "Fu", which means good fortune or happiness on them. The earrings alone were around $1400. I guess the gold pearl is rare and highly valued, which is why it is so expensive. She kept lowering the price, we would walk away, she would get her manager and lower the price, we would walk away, she would hand me the calculator and ask me to name my price, I would type in a ridiculously low number, she would laugh, we would walk away, and so on. So now you are probably wondering whether we caved in and bought the earrings. Let's just say Zoe will receive a very nice graduation or wedding gift someday which Mommy will borrow for special occasions until that time comes!

I can see Zoe has Kevin wrapped around her little finger already.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful jewelry! I love pearls and I know this may be a weakness for me:) Glad to hear of your experience and that they will come down in pricing.
